This technique works best for black animals as the only ‘colour’ in the portrait is in the eyes. The portrait is built up by drawing just the areas where the light is reflecting off the black fur. Using a combination of white soft pastels and pastel pencils on Daler & Rowney Canford black paper which is acid-free.
